Utter Acceptance

That's the answer.

The answer to the shame that Christians generally feel as we fail to measure up time and time again.  We try to live holy lives for God, yet we fail miserably.

And that's okay.  We don't seek holiness in order to gain acceptance; our acceptance has been guaranteed in Christ.  Rather, love motivates us to live a life pleasing and honoring to the One who utterly accepts us flaws and all.  God is never surprised by our sins; He knows each one that we will make.  And yet He loves and accepts us unconditionally.

"True significance and security are available to only the Christian, one who is trusting Christ's perfect life and substitionary death as his sole basis of acceptability before a holy God." ~Larry Crabb

This is true. Our identity in Christ is secure, no matter what mistakes we make. I like how you worded that: "love motivates us..." Thanks for posting this, Sharon!
